Hi,

How do I stop Media Center from buffering for 30 minutes a live TV picture.
I do not want to rewind or pause the picture, so there is no need to buffer.
This will help preserve the hard drive's life.

Any advice woud be much appreciated.

This has been asked many times on this forum and currently MS does not have
a "direct" view for the tuner. Though the whole point of the PVR is to be
able to rewind/pause/etc., so MS has not built in an option to watch TV
without it. I wouldn't worry about the drive life; I have drives in file
servers that get constant heavy access and they are 5-8 years old. The hard
drive will probably outlast your system. Some hard drive fail, but I don't
think there is a direct correlation to usage.

The only way is not to watch TV. Why did you buy MCE if you don't want to rewind
or pause Live TV. Using the drive will not wear it out. The drive will be fully
functional many years after you have retired your MCE system.

Hi Nigel,

I have a camera feed into the Media Center PC (of my front driveway gate)
and a home automation add-in which allows me to control lighting and my
security system. This all runs off a touch screen. That is why the PVR
functionality is not required. Thanks for your help.

If you want TV then you can't but why would you want to do this in any case?
