What is the device...? Do you use maped drives...?
When you plug in the device do you hear the pc ding dong...?

have you tried plugging it in to a different USB port on your PC?
i had/have a similar problem which appears to be a conflict between
other devices plugged into the other USB ports >> Stay informed about: Driver won't load in XP |
