I've tried every port on my PC with no other USB devices installed (had
to break out the old PS2 mouse and kb) and it just won't work. I even
tried plugging in a powered USB hub in the middle too. Any ideas?

What is the device...? Do you use maped drives...?
When you plug in the device do you hear the pc ding dong...?
