Hey,
I just got a new laptop and was trying to change permissions on the
root of drive c. I right click in the root of drive c and choose properties.
There is not a security tab. The drive is NTFS and when I right click on a
folder I do get the security tab. Anyone know how to get the security tab
back for the root of the drive?

Thanks

Thank you for posting the reason. I would say that you should contact HP
for help with their software. There is always the possibility that
someone here as used or heard about this program (and I haven't, sorry)
but it would be more efficient and direct to go to the source.

There are several MS KB articals that frown upon changing the permissions
of the root, it can cause lots of headaches down the road. In fact, as I
recall XP will pop up a warning if you try to do that. Better google
around a bit and understand the issues involved...

I have never seen such a warning though yes you need to be careful changing
permissions on the root and system folders. Unfortunately for many the
default permissions to the drive folder are too permissive in that they give
users the ability to create folders in special permissions seen in the
advanced page of security settings.
