Hi

I have Purchase new DVD writer and USB to IDE Cable for my laptop.

When i start burning DVD it get hangs in between i have tried so many
times it get hangs randomly. After that I tried to play video DVD that
also gets hang after some time.

When I restart m/c it detects DVD driver and start playing DVD but
after some time it automatically disconnect drive and stops reading it.

Can anyone help me to solve problem.

Back from vacation, Andrew? How lucky we all are. Not. You troll.

The OP does not need a hotfix. This is obviously a hardware problem. It
sounds like the OP has put a usb cable into the laptop and connected it
to an IDE adapter which is then plugged into a regular internal optical
drive - left on the outside of the machine. We also don't know anything
about the laptop's specs.

To the OP: please describe exactly what you bought and the method with
which you are connecting to the laptop, as well as give the laptop
specs. Normally, to use an external cd/dvd-rw drive with a laptop one
would either replace the internal laptop drive OR purchase an external
usb/firewire burner OR separately purchase a burner and put it in a
usb/firewire drive enclosure.

This set up is not recommended for long-term use. You need to locate a USB
drive enclosure (aka clam-shell) case which you would use to completely
convert this standard internal DVD drive to a external USB drive.
