Post subject: How to disable Internet-Explorer

Hi

I really need help with this. I want to be the only one using Internet Explorer on my computer. However, I don't want to restrict use of Messenger and Outlook.

Is there some way I can set a password so only I can use Internet Explorer.

I have been working on this for two days (scratching my head) and can't figure it out. I feel so stupid!

I am running Explorer 6 with XP home edition.

Hope you can help.

XP home edition.

Is there some way I can go into "tools" and set a password and totally shut out Explorer. I have tried, but can't figure it out.

Thanks.

You need to load windows in safe mode and edit the permmisons of mshtml.dll in the system32 directory so only your acount can read it, there by disabling IE for every one except you. YOu edit the permmisions by opening the perperties of a file open the security tab, click advanced, uncheck "Inherit from partent" then remove all groups and users. Then click ok, now in the properties windows click "add" and then add your user acount to the list and click OK. Now IE will not work in any user acount ecept your own.

Hello,

http://help.lockergnome.com/general/Disable-Internet-Explorer-ftopict34731.html (Here) is one message thread from the Lockergnome Help Forum discussing a way in which Microsoft Internet Explorer can be disabled, and http://help.lockergnome.com/general/Restricting-Downloads-ftopict14864.html (here) is another explaining how to disable various features of the web browser. Perhaps these will be of use.
