Hi,

I have just setup my media center and im very happy with it all so far,
there are still a few issues that I need to iron out and hope someone can
shed some light on them, I have listed them below :

1.) The divx ( using divx6.1 ) stalls when playing files locally. The best
was to describe it, is there is a 1/2 second pause when the picture freezes,
then plays for 1/2 at super speed to catch up with itself.

2.) How can I change the speed of the remote change, as I dont want to go
messing around with settings and loose my channel setup ( which took me
forever to setup )

3.) How can I backup my channel config, so if something does go wrong I can
restore it.

4.) Whats the recommended distance for the blasters - im currently running
at about 10cm from infront of the box, which works 90% of the time for me.

5.) Can i get a reminder that a program is starting ? This is a feature I
currently have only my cable and miss it.

6.) A few of my channles dont have listings, is there anyway to get EPG
listings from a different source for these channels.

7.) Can anyone recommend a codec for playing xvid files ?

I think thats all Smile

Thanks

Jon

What are you using for a codec? I've found FFDSHOW is much better than the
XVid stuff.

As far as I know, the only way to change this timing is to edit a registry
entry.

I was under the impression it needs to be actually stuck on the front of the
set top box, right in front of the sensor. Note: sensors aren't necessarily
centered under the plastic eye but may actually be off to one side or
another. Apparently you can shine a flashlight in there and maybe see the
exact sensor location.

No way to do this that I know of. It's been a requested feature.

Are you in the US? If so, check www.zap2it.com and see if they have the
correct information. If not, notify them. If they do, then it's somehow
Microsoft's problem.

FFDShow. XVid is basically a DivX codec (spelled backwards) but I've found
FFDShow has far fewer problems and seems faster too.
