Using XP SP2 and unable to find any info on how to customize column width on
folder contents. For example, want to widen the column named "Name" to
automatically display full file names. Any help would be appreciated.

If you're talking about Windows Explorer, move the mouse over the bar '|' at
the end of the Name column.
The mouse cursor should change, hold the left mouse button down and drag
left/right to resize column.

This hold true for all of Windows applications and column headers.

You can also use CTRL+NUMPAD's '+' which will auto-size columns
