Post subject: How do I configer a standard VGA driver?

The other day after taking my computer to be fixed (we found out the mother board had gone) i got it back to find numerous problems.
After reinstalling virus software, setting screen size and many other annoying changes I found i couldnt play Everquest 2 because of a fatal error (Direct x9 was missing a component in the D drive or something like that).
I also couldnt see my videodrivers usual icon when it was running so I tried to run it. It wouldnt run so I tried to find a later version assuming this would solve all the problems.
Now I have the latest ATI software but when I try installing it it tells me i need to configer my VGA driver for some adapter... any ideas?

thanks

When eeplacing the motherboard (unless it is the exact same modle as the previuse one) you realy need to do a repair install of windows so windows can configure it's self with the new hardware. Aditionaly, you will probably end up having to buy a new copy of XP becasue microsoft class the motherboard as the computer. (Thats presuming you do have a licens for windows and you do activate windows)

Ah the computer shop mentioned there might be difficulties getting into my hard drive but it did work. Any idea how I can run a repair without the windows disc?

thanks

Get a windows disk... you need the windows disk to repair install.

Hello,

Have you tried visiting the Windows Update web site to download all of the patches, updates and device drivers available for your system? Perhaps one fo them will be applicable to the new motherboard's chipset or video card.

Regards,
