Post subject: My computer does not read disk 2 when installing
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>games (more info?)

I have tried over the past week or so to install various games with 2
installation disks. However, when I insert the 2nd disk it wont respond and I
have to quit. I have tried numerous things; I have run an error check, I have
filed error reports and I have scanned for viruses and so far no luck. I
think it is a problem with the file "setup.exe" but I'm not sure. Please help!
P.S I have successfully installed these games many times before and played
them.

I have been having the same problem and have not found a fix for it but
I circumvent it in this way:
Get a copy program called BlindWrite (google it and download) to make a
1to1 copy of each disk on your hard drive. I have created a folder
c:\install that I use for this. When finished you should have 4 files
(one image file and the data file for each disk) in there. Now get
DaemonTools, this is a virtual drive. Mount the image file of the first
disk with DaemonTools. When prompted, unmount the first and mount the
second disk. This way usually works. It is cumbersome, but until this
day I haven't been able to fix the problem: I did get the secdrv fix,
but hat didn't help. Maybe there is a new one around out there?
