Post subject: IE 7 beta messed up my system

I wonder if my trying IE 7 beta and later uninstalling it corrupted my system, because I am having intermittent freezes with firefox and crashes with XnView and other programs. Javascript on Windows Update and Microsoft Update no longer work (when you click Details or More Info to find out more about an update). The popup blocker and firewall settings are configured correctly for microsoft.com. The a2 beta crashed and did not work.

When I restore my operating system from a clone backup, things will probably be working normally again. Is there anything I can do in the meantime to deal with these problems, or is restoring the OS the only way to solve them?

(If there is a separate forum for Internet Explorer, I did not see it. I saw a forum for Messenger, but not Internet Explorer.)
