Do you see to litte keys in the right hand side of the taskbar (below)? If so, click twice on it, and for what you say it is likely that your XP came preactivated and you don¡t need to no anything.

I don't see anything. The task bar is where all the programs that are
opened are displayed? This is where the time is.

Yes, the keys appear somewhat left to the clock. In any case, go to Start > All Programs > Accesories > System > Activate Windows, and follow the wizard.

I don't have Activate Windows in that path. Guess I don't have to worry. I must already be
activated.

Answer depends on what kind of XP CD you have.

If a retail CD, XP can be moved to another computer.

If a generic OEM CD: it's possible to install to another computer but the
license terms state "no transfer"

If it's a custom OEM CD for a particular system, (drivers specific to the
original system, possibly a BIOS lock code): License terms state "no
transfer." An attempted install on another system will most likely fail due
to the added customizations.
