While trying to re-install XP from a factory pre-install disc I get a
message saying it can't continue becuase windows can't find a CD-ROM
drive, the same CD-ROM drive I inserted the disc into to start the
whole proccess.
The error message comes up after rebooting with the disc in the drive.
The program asks a few questions first does a scan or two then re-boots
the system as it is starting back up the "can not find drive" message
comes up and it gives me one option to continue "exit set up".
This wouldn't be so bad but now every time I restart the system I get a
"choose OS" message 1. Normal XP 2. XP set up... so I figure it is still
trying to run/finish the re-install.
I have two CD drives letter D is a dvd E is a CD-RW, I have tried both
and get the same message.
In device manager they both show as working properly and I even
uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers as advised by XP help.
I just want to finish the re-install/upgrade (non formatting mode) of
XP. The CD drive problem is the only hold up.
Thanks for any help offered.
