XP PRO Remote Desktop Issue

I have a client in India trying to work on his PC in our location (USA), He
connects fine.

The local (host pc has 3 mapped drives on the network) and is connect to
network via a 100 MB copper line.

Both machines are brand new Intel based P4 with 2 GB Ram and 160GB hard
drives running XP pro sp2, Office 2003 Pro.

Backbone of our connection in USA is a T-1 1.5 MB both ways..

His connection is ADSL 768Kb Down and 256Kb Up

PROBLEM: He needs to get files off our network and bring them to his pc in
India.. IT takes FOREVER!!! a 1mb file could take 15 mins or time out..

Any things I shloud look at to fix?
