I run Office 2000 on Windows XP (home). All well until yesterday's automated
updated from MS.
Now, when starting up computer I get warning: Virtual Memory Too Low
When I start Outlook it SOMETIMES works but often quits. Error msgs are:
This App Requires Windows Installer to Run.
I tried to install "installer" off my Office Install CD but it tells me:
Wrong OS or OS Version.

The Virtual Memory Too Low message means that your pagefile is too small.
All of your problems start with this one.
As for the Installer message, that meant the Windows XP program. You won't
find any such animal on an Office Install CD. However, your problem with
Outlook is the result of insufficient virtual memory.

How much RAM? Try Ctrl+Alt+Delete to bring Task Manager and select the
Performance Tab. What is the Commit Charge? What was the Peak?
How large is your hard drive and how much free space does it have? If
your hard drive is partitioned then details for each partition would be
helpful.

Hope this helps.
