In all search windows I have only the dog but nothing else ( no text, no
searching options ... nothing but a blue wide window with a happy dog in the
left corner)

i had a similer problem I found the srchasst.inf file i right clicked it,and I was prompted for the files I typed in the address you gave and it seemed to start But then it prompted for another file but it was not found in the same folder, So wat do I do? >> Stay informed about: Windows XP Search Companion
