This past Monday I finally allowed my desktop to download IE7 and then
install it when the computer was shutting down for the night. When I turned
it back on Wednesday it took awhile while it told me that it was finishing up
the installtion of IE7. It then came up and I started using it.
At a point a few minutes later a McAfee window popped up about a new upgrade
and I allowed it to go get the download. When the download was complete it
asked about installing it and I put that off until I was finished with what I
was doing and getting ready to shutdown for the night. I clicked the install
button and it came back and told me that only an Administration account could
load software on the machine. I checked the users accounts and there now was
NO Administrator account and only a single Guest account which has the name
of the old Administrator account.
How do I go about re-establishing an Administrator account? >> Stay informed about: Windows XP Home SP2 - Administrator Account disappeared |

XP Home requires a boot into Safe Mode to log-in as Administrator. Did you
try that and the McAfee install from Safe Mode?
