Post subject: Wallpaper will not change
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>customize (more info?)
I cannot change my desktop wallpaper. When I go to display properties, then
desktop, " background" is not highlighted.
Also When I go to themes I have 'my current theme' and 'modified theme'
neither of which will delete permanently.

Archived from groups: per prev. post (more info?)
Editing the registry is not recommended if you are not familiar with. The
easiest way could be going through Group Policy Editor. Check the following:

1. Click Start - Run - type GPEDIT.MSC and Press Enter
2. Expand to User Configuration - Administrative Templates - Control Panel -
Display

Here check the settings "Prevent changing wallpaper". If it is set "Not
Configured" or "Enable" then set it "Disable".

Also check the settings of Desktop Themes under Display.

Let us know if the information is useful.

I don't have a GPEDIT.MSC file

If you can not run GPEDIT.MSC then right-click on My Computer - click Manage

then follow the procedure describe in previous post
