An issue persists with Vista Media Center from MCE 2005. When a codec is
installed from the Vista shell (XVID, for example), the video will playback
inside of MediaPlayer 11, however, not inside of Media Center.

With both application using MediaPlayer 11 technology, why the disparity
between the usage of installed codecs?

Thanks -

AH

I have this issue too.

Video files play perfectly within WMP11 however, for me, within Vista Media
Center the same file will play, but the white areas are filled with black
static. It's unwatchable and has forced me back to MCE 2005.

I have tried every codec imaginable. Various versions of FFDShow, DIVX
codecs, K-Lite. It makes no discernable difference in Media Center!!

Frustrating

Is this on _all_ of your video files, or one specific file? What format is
(are) that (those) file(s)?
Have you tried the new version of MyMovies?

It seems to be all video files, but I tend to only play XVid videos at the
moment so I may be wron. I'll test a WMV tonight.

My understanding is that MyMovies is not Vista compatible as yet?

The latest one, 2.11, is Vista compatible. You have to jump thru a few hoops
first - download and install .NET 1.1, then download and install its service
pack. 2005 has those but Vista doesn't...

For DivX videos I've had better luck with FFDShow than with XVid.
