I bought a MCE Toshiba Satellite P15-S479 nearly two years ago. For the first
6-9 months, I was able to watch and record TV in Media Center but all of
sudden started getting the same message ("Files needed to display videos are
missing or corrupt. Please restart or call Bill Gates") when i tried to watch
or record TV. After spending valuable time trying to figure out how to fix my
mistaken investment in this Microsoft software jalopy, I've tried these
remedies in order:
1. downloaded the diagnostic software to confirm all drivers are
'endorsed/supported by' microsoft
2. System restore
3. purchased and downloaded additional nVideo drivers
4. completely re-imaged my computer and re-installed the original software
unfortunately, i still get the same error message. i'll need to hang on to
this laptop for another year or two before i can justify crossing over to the
Mac world. In the meantime, is there anything else i should try to salvage my
mistaken investment in Microsoft software?
