New V7 Monitor Speakers Aren't Working

I just purchased a V7 LCD 19" monitor with speakers. However, when I
connect the speakers to my Compaq 5000 Presario computer, they don't
work. Both connections are okay and so is the volume control. What
else should I be checking?

If anyone has experience with the type of monitor I would appreciate
hearing from you.

You ask Compaq and/or V7 tech support.
