Dear Microsoft Support Team,
I am unable to uninstall Msn Messenger 7 on my Windows XP Media Centre
edition 2005 after installing the latest MSN Messenger update. Using the
Add/Remove utility in the control panel I get an "Unable to Open Package"
error.
Using Regedit to search the registry I found the MSN Messenger installer is
looking for C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\(username)\LOCAL
SETTINGS\Temp\IXP000.TMP\. Using Windows Explorer, with the Show hidden files
and folders enabled, I have searched for this folder but it appears to be
missing.
The IXP000.TMP folder seems to be an important folder for storing uninstall
information as it is listed in active setup, setup and some other text
logfiles in the C:\Windows folder.
I have tried a system restore to no avail.
Could you assist me in determining if the IXP000.TMP folder is important and
how I can recover it (perhaps from the Windows XP Recovery DVD OR how I can
uninstall MSN Messenger 7 without this folder.
Kind regards
