I have set Mouse/X-Mouse to "Activation follows mouse" and "Autoraise
when activating"
using TweakUI for Windows XP.

Usually this works well, but sometimes - suddenly - Windows stops
observing these settings. Although TweakUI shows me that the settings
are still the way I have set them, it
is suddenly necessary again to click into a Window to activate and
raise it.

Even if I unset and reset these settings in TweakUI, it doesn't work
again. The only
solution seems to be to reboot the system.

This does not happen very often - maybe once a week, and I'm using the
system nearly
daily for many hours. When it happens, it does so "out of the blue".

Any idea what's wrong here?

Ronald

Hi Ronny:

Can you point to an event (such as invoking a particular task or program)
which corresponds to modification of this setting? If it really is
important to you to uncover this bug, I would suggest checking the event logs
upon occurence and saving the relevent portion of them. Over a period of
time you might discover the source of the problem.

Unfortunately not yet.

Good idea. Where do I find these event logs?

Ronny: My appologies I cannot remember what i have used in the past to
examine "what just occurred", and a search for .log files turned up a mish
mash which did not help my memory. It may be that the last time I did this
was in Win 98 and it has changed? I hope that someone else can enlighten us
both since thrashing around Jonah-like in the belly of this whale is not
necessarily a good idea.

I am going to put my tin-foil hat back on now.
