I never use Windows Messenger, but noticed today when I launched the Media
Center to watch TV, that Windows Messenger is running in the tray. It is not
signed in, but running. When I tried to close the app, it said that it was
being used. Closed the Media Center, and Windows Messenger also closed.

I am running an HP Media Center PC m7167c, fully patched. If this has been
the case in the past, I had never noticed it. I don't particularly like or
trust Windows Messenger, so this concerns me.

Thanks!

My version of Media Center (it's on a brand new Gateway machine) does not
show this option to disable Messenger from functioning in Media Center.

I never use Messenger and have it disabled from running at all, yet I always
get an "error" message" about Messenger not being available when I start any
Media Center operations (and a related "DCOM error" messgae in Event Viewer).

How do I solve this problem?
