I occassionally get a popup message when shutting down Windows XP that something called Setlcon (or is it SetIcon?) is running. When this occurs, Windows takes much longer than usual to shut down.
What is this? Is it harmful? What can/should I do about it?

Thanks

I have a program SetIcon.exe under "C:\Program Files\SMSC\". It's a program I installed with my card reader, and it used to start up automatically when I started Windows.
I deleted it from my start-up list ages ago (sorry, I don't remember exactly where it had been placed, but probably shows up in msconfig.exe), and I have no trouble dealing with the card reader without it running in XP.

I hope that helps!

I found SetIcon in msconfig/Start Up and deactivated it. Seems the problem has now gone away. So thanks very much for the tip.
