It's possible the wireless mouse is pinging the system even with no
movement. Can you turn your mouse off when not using the system?

Dana,
I pulled the batteries - no success. I pulled the plug on it & the screen
saver worked. How do I fix the issue & keep my mouse & keyboard connected????

The only thing I can suggest is to contact Microsoft and tell them they have
a bug in their wireless keyboard/mouse...

There may also be a setting in the mouse properties...

Exact issue w/ MS wireless elite keyboard & mouse & Dell Dimesion 4700c.
At least after hours and hours troubleshooting screensaver issue at least it
is now isolated to the wireless, rather than other components. Now,
hopefully a solution will emerage!

I am having the same problem with the wireless laser 6000. I tried to contact
Microsoft but they wanted $35.00 for their service. I wish I had the box so I
could return it.

Does anyone know what ehtray.exe does?

Will Media Center options still work if it is disabled?

Such as recording TV and such?

Or the telephone ringing caller id option?

Any help will be greatly appreciated

I am having the same problem

(On a note it didn't start till some of the very last security fixes that I
installed right after I got my PC last week so it is one of the updates that
caused it for me *not SP2 or any major update just one of the minor ones*

You can manually start the screen saver, and add a shortcut to the Quick
Launch bar for convinience. The screen savers files are located in:

C:\Windows\System32

click "Type" to sort the files alphabetically by type, and scroll down to
Screen Saver. All the names are clear, except
logon is the Windows Vista flag logo,
scrnsave is a blank screen,
ssBranded is Windows Energy

drag the file to the Quick Launch bar to add a shortcut there, and just
click it to activate the screen saver

That solves one of the issues thank you very much...

My next question is ...can you manually set your monitor to go off?
**Without just clicking the button on the monitor..I know it is a obvious
choice but I am always looking for easier and better ways to do things.

Or a way to set the PC to go into Standby like a shortcut or something to
that?

Have you tried the settings in Power Options?

Here's a low-tech solution...turn off the monitor when not in use. I don't
like the idea about constantly unplugging the USB cord, and am not techie
enough to consider changing a bunch of settings. I would have tried the new
drivers thing, but that guy said loading the new driver didn't solve the
problem.

Fixed it !! - if you lock your screen then the screensaver comes on after the
right amount of time - even with a wireless keyboard and mouse.
