My mother bought a new computer. I don't have the exact wording, but
apparently when she leaves it on for a while and returns and jiggles
the mouse, the monitor turns on and she gets a message saying that the
screen saver didn't work because of a problem with the keyboard. The
screen saver she has set up is "My Pictures Slideshow".

The keyboard came with the computer and appears to work correctly.
Should I uninstall the keyboard driver?

Change the screensaver to a default win one and see what happens
