I have chosen a screen saver and put a 3 min time on it. My screen shuts
off after 3min; however it comes back on within a few seconds. It continues
doing this over and over again. Does anyone know what might be the problem?

Either software(malware or other intentional software) or hardware
activity(noisy mouse or other) is waking it up.

I have the same problem - except mine doesn't even start. It works fine in
preview but whichever one I pick it never kicks in! It's driving me nuts. I
spend more time trying to work out what's wrong than anything else. I had
Magentic (by Incredimail) loaded - free download - that worked fine, then it
just stopped. Magentic is a screensaver, wallpaper package - brill when it
works. I've contacted them several times and they've asked me to perform
certain diagnostic functions which record to my desktop, then I forward it on
to them. Everything else I set in my desktop properties works ok, I haven't
changed my wallpaper. I had chosen a particular pointer from my microsoft
mouse library whereby the cursor flashed colours. I had thought maybe that
was the problem so I turned that off and went back to a regular cursor to no
avail. I cannot pinpoint the time - or rather what new soft/hardware I may
have installed - that the screensaver stopped working, but it hasn't worked
for some months now. I've also tried resetting my pc to an earlier date, but
I can only go back so far, it won't accept some earlier times I've tried to
put in. I've tried troubleshooting and changing the resolution etc, but that
didn't help either. Has anyone got an idea - please!

My problem is that my screensaver does not turn on when the computer has been
idlefor the time length I have set. But it does start and continue when I
select the screensaver quick-launch Icon. It continues and stops per normal,
and yet stays off untill I check the Icon again. I adjusted the screensize
and checked program interaction, to no avail. Does anyone know what the
optimum perameters are that will ensure the screensaver will function? I have
been having problems for months now. Do you think it has anything to do with
the windows update selection?
Thanks,
-Andi-
