| How do I get the Quick Launch Task Bar to show more then 3 items (the
rest would be hidden and have to be accessed by clicking the arrows at
the right end of the bar)? In Windows 2000 there was a left-right
slider bar that governed how many items would show and how many would be
accessed by clicking the arrows.

It's the same in Windows XP. However when the Task Bar is locked, that
slider isn't shown. Right-click an empty part of the Task Bar and click to
uncheck "Lock the Taskbar."
By the way, you may want to consider the alternative of dragging the Quick
Launch Bar off the Task Bar entirely and docking it on another side of the
screen. One configuration that I particularly like is having the Task Bar on
the bottom of the screen and the Quick Launch Bar on the left side. That
permits you room for a lot of Quick Launch shortcuts, doesn't take up Task
Bar space, and doesn't use much desktop real estate.

first drag the shortcut you want into the quick lauch so the annoying arrows
come up.
then
Unlock the taskbar/quick launch bar - by right clicking and uncheck "lock
taskbar"
then just put the cursor over the dottybit next to the quick launch icon and
a double ended arrow appears then click and drag untill all the icons you
want appear
