Hi,

I added a 2nd Hauppauge Wintv 150 MCE to my media center yesterday but I
cannot get it discovered through the Media center tv signal setup. The pc is
saying that the card is working properly. I have tried running the tv signal
just through my 2nd card and there is a untuned signal displayed on the TV.
My 150 MCE in the slot one works perfectly.

Any Suggestions?

Thanks

If you can not record two SD TV programs simultaneously, then the
second WinTV 150 is not working, as you say.

It may be that Hauppauge has not developed the drivers for these tuners
to permit two WinTV 150 tuners to work in one WMCE box.

In other words, you may need a different brand of SD tuner in order to
have two working SD tuners.

Thanks for the sujggestion but i got this from the Hauppauge website, so it
should work

" WinTV-PVR-150 MCE-Kit
A TV tuner upgrade kit for Windows XP Media Center Edition:
Watch TV with the MyTV button on Media Center

Includes a Media Center remote control plus IR transmitter, for a complete
Media Center upgrade!

Use Media Center's built-in TV scheduler to schedule recordings of your
favorite TV shows

WinTV-PVR-150MCE's built-in hardware MPEG encoder allows you to continue to
use your computer while recording. Listen to music, watch digital pictures or
play a DVD movie while recording your favorite TV show!

Install more than one WinTV-PVR-150MCE in your MCE PC so you can "watch one
channel while recording another"

I will keep searching, someone else told me to swap over the TV cards to see
if the one in PCI Slot 2 works in PCI Slot 1.

Anyone have a suggestion?

Thanks

If you are using 2 Hauppauge Tuner cards and you are using an antenna or an
out of the wall cable connection then you need a spliter on the input so
that you can connect the signal to the antenna connection on both cards.

Hi,

I have a splitter on the out of wall connection. I have tried everything to
get this card to work, disabling each card, uninstalling & reinstalling each
card, trying to run TV through just the 2nd card but nothing seems to make
MCE 2005 realise I have 2 cards installed.

Any other help is much appreciated.

Do you possibly have a bad card? When using only one card does it make a
difference which card you use or which PCI slot the card is located in?
When two cards are installed is one of the cards possibly sharing ite IRQ
with your graphics card or your sound card?

Hi,

In PCI Slot 1: I have a Hauppauge WinTV 150 MCE: works perfectly.

So I added another exact same model to PCI Slot 2:

The Media Center PC says that both are working. Though when I go to set up
my TV signal through Windows Media Center Setup, it is just tuning the tuner
in Slot 1.

It is not asking me if I want to use 2 tuners as it is not seeing the second
added tuner.

I am using an Analogue Signal.

I have tried the following:

Uninstalling and reinstalling both tuners: No Change
Disabling PCI 1 Tuner and trying to get signal through PCI 2 Tuner: No Change
If I run signal through the new tuner in slot 2 there is no picture it is
just that snowy effect you get from an untuned TV channel.

I have splitter from my wall connection so I think this is not causing the
problem?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

I have just changed over the tuners and the Tuner from PCI slot 2 works fine
in Slot 1. Still not getting TV Signal setup asking me if I want to use 2
tuners. Could it be a PCI slot problem?

Thanks

Try not to use the slot next to your AGP slot if you have one.
Also try reversing the cables going to the splitter you may have a bad
splitter or a bad cable to the ths splitter.

Hi,

Thanks for the help.

The tuner that is working is in the slot next to the AGP and now I have
moved the second card (not working card) over to slot 3 but still nothing. I
also tried swapping the cards over between slots and this second card is not
working with in any configuration. I think it must be a dud card but it is
strange to get at least the snowy picture?

What do you suggest?

Thanks

Is this thread still going? I had my home built media center running over 1
year with two Hauppauge 150 cards and it worked perfectly. Had something
hardware-wise go bad and I replaced the mother board and video card. Now,
when I try to use the two 150's it only reads the one tuner. Individually
they both work, but the system only reads one when they're both in. I am
currently working on this ... planning to reinstall. If anyone is interested
I will post my results. Have you found a solution? Sometimes I think we are
able to getting things running properly, but are not sure what exactly we did
to reach the desired result.

thanks,

I suggest that use device manager to uninstall both cards. Then shutdown
and remove both cards and reboot.
Then shutdown again and install one of the cards and boot and insure that it
is running normally.
Then shutdown and install the second card and reboot.
Again make sure that neihter card is installed in the slot next to your AGP
graphics card slot.

Some things to try--first go into setup and turn off everything you
aren't using (serial ports, parallel ports, extra network port, etc).
Cold boot a couple of times. If that doesn't work try moving the boards
around--put in both boards then move one (call it Board 1) one slot at a
time and see if at some point it's detected--if not, try moving the
other board (call it Board 2) one slot over and then repeat moving Board
1 to each slot in turn until either it works or you've tried all
possible combinations. Cold boot twice after each move before you
decide that board isn't detected.

Remember to unplug the machine or turn it off using the switch on the
back of the power supply before you move boards--just turning off an AGP
box leaves power on the motherboard.

I think I have it! I think both cards are working. I scheduled two shows to
record later in the week... when two tuners were not recognized it would not
allow me to do this. I will need to fine tune the display a little, but if I
have problems I will start a new thread. I removed the cards and replaced
them one at a time yesterday. I reinstalled the drivers today. I think my
ultimate problem was my stupidity. I tend to repeat, repeat and repeat steps
when trying to resolve a problem.

When I was setting up the tuners, I tried to get both working from the first
'set up' screen instead of getting one working, clicking on 'changed channels
corrrectly' and then going on to the same screens again in the process to
configure the second tuner. I think I have it now and appreciate the quick
responses and inciteful input.
