I guess my question really should be what All-in-one printer will work with
Media Center. I cannot use my OfficeJet G85 for scanning anymore and I
really need to scan some things. Any help?

I've heard of some HP products not working correctly in Media Center...Did
your scanner work OK with a previous OS but fails under Media Center? Have
you asked HP about drivers for Media Center? Have you installed and tried
the latest XP driver for this printer?

I got the HP 3015 AIO to work, after HP sent me new software. They said that
there was a problem with Media Center and old AIO software. The HP toolbox
still doesn't work, but I can scan with HP scan software, IRIS OCR, and Media
Center Scan/Camera Wizard. Call HP to see if they have new software for your
printer.

I have a HP OfficeJet 7310 "All-in-One" printer and it works fine with Media
Center. They key is Updating the printer drivers and software. Most
software is downloadable off the HP site.

I have now tried to install four different printers, both cannon and hp, all
different models, downloaded the drivers correctly, have had them all work on
other computers, but keep getting "There was a problem installing this
hardware. An error occured during the installation of the device."

Are you connecting them via USB or parallel? If parallel, you might need to
go into the BIOS and configure that port.

Thats odd then. I've been able to install several printers on my Media
Center boxes, including a Canon Pixma 1500 and an HP LaserJet 1200, and
haven't seen that issue. Do you have any Event Viewer entries connected with
this install?

Other than maybe going into the BIOS and checking the USB settings, I can't
think of anything else to try short of a reinstall. If your USB ports have a
BIOS setting for "legacy hardware", turn that on...

Ran into serious problems with HP desktop as my HP All-in -One
6210 plus HP scanjet 4890 do not work, one at a time!
HP support re-installed, installed and removed software and messed up
my computer, so none of my scanners works and their support left me in
state without virus protection etc.
Purchased the brand new desktop in trust that their HP printers will
work, was even confirmed in writing. Now their "support" is
"silent", no solution.
Is there anyone around who can advise what to do other than throwing
out all new HP products?
Both scanners worked great on my laptop with XP, but Media Center seems
to be
For scanning and printing and photowork a big step backworth!
As it can be seen there is a serious problem with Media Center and
scanners, too bad the manufacturer are so ignorant!

If you're within 30 days, return the computer for a refund and buy a
different brand. Otherwise, keep nagging their support people, and use the
phrase "please escalate this to a supervisor".
