Is there any good freeware/shareware that i can get that will help me
complete a hardware/software inventory of windows xp/2000 machines on a
Lan.

Archived from groups: per prev. post (more info?)
Try useing xps inventory,go to run,type:Msinfo32 Or open help/support
click on tools,run the utilities.
