Post subject: PC keeps turning off automatically... :(
I just upgraded my graphix card to the bliss 7800gs agp, and now when i play certain high demanding games such as doom and san andreas the pc seems to short out leaving the power led on but nothing is happening. i have a bluestorm 500w psu and good cooling. my grapics card normal operating temp when playing a game is around 55oc, if anyone can help me out i would be really greatfull.

Try diabling Fast write in the BIOS, i had the same problem with a Radeon 9800 some time ago (nearly a year), and all i had to do was disable fast write...

Ok ive just had alook at my bios settings and couldent find fast write in there Sad, but i see other settings for vga, like video caching disabled and vga voltage at 1.5.
please help Sad cheers

Hello,

Is the CPU overclocked?

Have you installed the latest BIOS and chipset device drivers for the motherboard, and the latest device drivers for the video card?

Are you certain the 500-Watt power supply is sufficient to power all of the components in your computer including the new nVidia 7800GS AGP video card? Also, could the CPU be overheating? If so, you may need to replace its heat sink/fan and possibly replace or install additional fans inside the computer chassis to increase the amount of air which flows through it to move waste heat away from the components inside.
