Post subject: Opening files from within Explorer takes a long time

Hi I have a few users experiencing the same problem as follows,
when the computer is connected to the network and they try to open any file
ie excel spreadsheet by browsing through explorer it can take up to 2 minutes
to open.
I've checked for spyware but there is n't any on the machines.
Once i disconnect from the network and then open explorer and double click
on the file they open fine, any ideas would be appreciated
