Where can I find the MAC address of a device that's part of my home network, e.g. a print server?

If your using a router, then you can log onto the router and look
at the dhcp listings, there will be the IP that was assigned and most
routers tell you the mac address also.

Most print servers have the mac address on the bottom as do most
laptops. Both the network address's for the wireless and wired are
listed on the bottom of the laptop.

Hard wired print servers in printers are accessable from the configuration
menu on the printer.

you can find your computers mac address with the program ipconfig
that is accessable from the command line
ipconfig /all will display the ip, gateway and the mac address of all the
ethernet devices in your computer.

Hope this helps

Hi. Thanks for the advice but I can't tell what shows on the screen because everything zipped by in a fraction of a second!
Is there a way to freeze the display? Thanks.

if you type ipconfig /all in the run line, it will close too fast.

at the run line under start..

type CMD then press enter.
you will have a black screen with a prompt.

then type
ipconfig /all
you should be able to scroll up to see all the settings.

to quit, close the window by either typing exit or square at top right of
screen.

hope this helps.

I managed to freeze the screen following your instructions.
But the info shows, among other details, only the IP addresses (nnn.nnn.nnn.n etc) of the host PC and something called Ethernet Bridge (?) but no MAC adresses.

The MAC address will be listed as the "Physical Address". It should be something like:

Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 01-1D-A7-78-43-FB

Your numbers will be different.

Yes. I do see 'Physical address'. But as I mentioned earlier, I don't see any info for the wireless print server. Will running ipconfig show only details of devices that are 'wired' to the PC?
Also, would it be safe to assume that if my security system (I use Trend Micro PC-Cillin) detects a connection that has an IP address (e.g. nnn.nnn.112) that is sequential to another device that I have (e.g. nnn.nnn.113) then the connection is safe, i.e. not an intrusion? Thanks.

Your correct,t he MAC address is only the ones that are physically in your computer, be it laptop or desktop.

If what your looking for is the IP address of your print server, then you will need to query the print server. Most software that comes with print servers will find the device by it's mac address and tell you the IP and other information.
If your running a router to protect you from the internet via IP translation, you should be able to log onto the router via your web browser and look at the DHCP address's that it assigns.
Many built in print servers will tell you all you need to know by using the print configuration report on the printer main menu.

but the Router dhcp is probably the fastest.
