Post subject: Laptop Freeze Configuring New Firewire (1394) Cardbus card
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>hardware (more info?)

I have an Averatec 6240 laptop, which has an AMD Athlon processor, and
Windows XP home w/ SP2. I purchased an IOGEAR GPF113 3 port firewire cardbus
card, which comes with no drivers, and says it should be automatically
configured by Windows XP. When I insert the card, up pops the New Hardware
Wizard, and it recognized a 1394 device, and then it just freezes -- a hard
freeze (I have to disconnect power and the battery). Any ideas -- a bad
card, or my laptop doesn't like this card? If my laptop just won't work with
this card, any recommendations on a less problematic firewire card?
