I just downloaded FSX Deluxe Edition 2006 on my PC. The down load had no
problems, However when I went to activate it , The program would not
activate. I called Microsoft support No Luck from them. I reloaded the
program still no luck. I see when I surf the web for help I am not the only
one having problems with this new program. All you can do with it is play a
30 minute demo. For $70.00 it seem to be a lot of junk so far. I would love
to use the program it sounds great, if anyone out there can help I sure
would appreciate it

What did MS support say? What is the exact error when you try to
activate? If you have Norton Internet Security package temporarily
disable it for the activation to go through...

I am having the same problem installing the program from a CD. The install
program does not automatically come up when the CD is loaded. I have to go to
'Add Programs' to access the files. When I first tried this I got a message
saying there was not enough memory to install. I have 512K, twice the system
requirements. I changed my virtual memory paging size to 'system gnerated'
and I am not getting that message. I have checked my CD and it works fine.
Now I am getting a message which says the installation program 'is not a
valid Win 32 application'....Please help!

I purchased the program when it was first on CostCo selfs and have your
problem, It installs find, slow but fine but will not activate. Here is what
i have done so far, so luck getting it activated but here is what does not
work.

1. Try several times over several days to "Activate" as normal, no luck,
same old message.
2. Try using Phone routine but that only locks up and says i should try
reinstalling the program.
3. Went through "repair" routine - No help.
4. Removed and complete new "re" install - still same issue - will not
activate.
5. Called Micsft first time hung up in disgust after being told wait would
be 4 hours. Second call I did wait but they hung up on me. Third call
waited 2 hours until close of business hours PST. Fourth call waited one
hour and got help on the line, gave them my case number told them of the
issue and was put on hold for about 10 minutes, tech came back and said,
"sorry problem is with our server, we will call you when they are working
properly, other wise please fly as much as you like" My response "yea for 30
minutes at a pop, thank you very much"
6. Found a article in FAQ about how to activate and how to troubleshoot
activation issues for FSX" - page 4 acknowledges "A technical problem
offurred while it access the online activation server." ... Work around was
to do a clean boot - results NO LUCK same issue. Also suggest activation by
Phone, so when the phone activation routine blows up how are you suppose to
activate by phone. DOES ANY ONE KNOW THIS WONDERFUL NUMBER WHEN WE CAN CALL
AND ACTIVITE THE PRODUCT?? IF SO PLEASE LIST IT as the routine only crashes
when i try it and there is no such listing in the book you get with the game.
Short of it WORK around did not work around anything.
7. I finally found these Forum, User Group centers but so far i have NOT
found an anwser to the situation.

DOES ANY ONE know what to do or how to activate the program - short of
junking the program and returning this DEMO game to the store.???

'not a valid win32 application..' might have to do with the autoexec.nt
file.
Copy this file from c:\windows\repair to c:\windows\system32, click ok
when asked to replace

Previous versions of Flight Simulator were released on CD, make sure
to read the requirements on the box and that your computer meets
them...

After getting through to Microsoft Support and spending three days on this,
they have come back and told me a 32X DVD drive is a prerequisite for
installing and running this game. This pre-req is not on the box anywhere nor
is it listed on the FSX Website.
EVERYONE TAKE NOTE!

I have just purchased FSX Deluxe as well and I also had a problem with the
activation of the product. I uninstalled the product and now I am struggling
to install it again. Gives me an error message 1722. Please help me?

If anyone finds a way to activate please let me know. I have nothing but
horror stories concerning Microsoft Support/games.
