Post subject: Firewall - Program Vs Port Exceptions.

I have to allow access to my clients using some remote control software. I
can set up an exception for the XP firewall using GPO. For this particluar
software i can either open a port OR set a program exception for a specific
exe file. What is considered the better security option?
