I have XP pro and I installed some software from GE that is used to program
motor protection relays. The software worked fine but IE, Firefox and
Adobe Acrobat Reader all fail to start. I reinstalled AAR and it works
fine but I cannot get the other two to work. Since I cannot get a browser
running I cannot get an update unless I download something like Opera and
then try to update IE from there. I did a system restore that removed the
offending app and still no joy for IE and FF. I went back to the post
installation time and none of them work. Seems like some dll's got
overwritten.

Other people with the same notebook as mine aren't having any trouble.

Now, there are no restore points left. I went back to one then back to my
post installation and cannot pick a restore point. Very odd.

What is my next step?

Thanks,

fybar
