Gerry,
I'm using Windows XP SP2
Following a tip I got on another newsgroup I just fixed the problem...
at least for now.
The fix was to
1. click on add/remove programs category from the Control Panel
2. Click on Add/Remove Windows Components, at the left.
3. Unselect Fax services and click Next
4. When it completes, reboot.
Then insert the Windows XP SP2 installation CD, go to the root
directory,
and run Setup. Select Add/Remove Windows Components, and check the Fax
Services box.
Complete the process, and reboot.
Then, try to send a fax. this will take you through the fax services
setup process, at the end of which
you can send a fax using the wizard.
Since no one seems to know what causes the problem (very common one,
BTW), it may come back.
But for now it;s working.
