XP Home sp2 - all updates - scanned for virus none - no spyware - no popups.
In any program when using explorer to find files and the slide bar is used
or the page down is used the list of files will move a few lines at a time
then pause then advance a few more lines of files. This happens in any
program that uses explorer including windows explorer when looking at folders
and files.
The computer seems to be running OK except for this. But the time to scroll
through a long list of files is very slow.
Any ideas.
Thank You >> Stay informed about: Explorer pauses |

what happens if you change the4 icon view to list does that make it
faster, when its on thumbnail it does take a lot longer to load and if
its a large folder that would make loading time even worse.

Using the list and it does not make any difference if using icon.

Yes and it made no difference. Maybe I'm not being clear.
You are in Word or any other program and you want to open a document or
whatever. You click on the folder that has the document along with many other
files and you pull the scroll bar down or you go to the bottom of the display
and click just above the lower arrow. The list of files will move in the
direction you are scrolling the files about 3 or 4 files then stop then is
will scroll again and then stop, this continues until the files display has
moved an amount required by the scroll bar.

Check and see if this problem occurs on a differen user on the same machine.
If it does not, then you need to create a new profile for your user account.
