My PC has just been reloaded with Win XP Prof and all updates downloaded and
installed. When I connect to Internet update notification icon appears and
advise that there are updates but when I go to MS site I get the following
message: "The website has encountered a problem and cannto display the page
you are trying to view. The options provided below may help you."
Unfortunately they did not. The Error Code 0x8024001D was also displayed but
I could not find any answer. Please help!!

hi i have/had the same problem . i talked to my pc'c tech support who
told me to do this:
start-mycomputer-local disk (cSmile-windows-softwareDistribution. when i
got to here i had to rename the datastore file to datastore.old. i have
just started my pc but it has already started to load updates and is
asking for restart, so fingers crossed. 1 thing to note , win xp in my
pc is an oem product , ie tweeked a bit by the pc maker. check first
