What Software can I use to edit recorded TV and still view through MC & MCE.
Is that what VideoRedo is for?

What are you trying to achieve? Do you want to remove commercials & burn he TV
shows to DVD? VideoReDo is the best editing solution available but you would
need to add a DVD authoring package like Sonic MyDVD. MyDVD does have editing
facilities but they are far less sophisticated than VideoReDo. It all depends
what you want to do.

I want to remove the commercials, but not burn it to DVD. I still want to
view it through MC & MCE.

And with Dcut you can save it as a WMV file instead of ms-dvr.

Will save you some space on the harddisk ...

Nigel:

I want to do what Tony does not. I want to use VideoReDo to get rid of the
commercials then burn to DVD to show on a standard DVD Player. I can get to
the latter stage, but not able to author.
I've not had much luck so far. I've tried EMC9's MyDVD, but got tripped up
and couldn't complete it. Is there a tutorial or direction somewhere to do
that. In the final analysis, what type of file character must the TV show on
the DVD need to be?
Thanks for you help.

VideoReDo should be able to write to a dvr-ms file, which you should be able
to burn with Media Center. Be aware that you probably can't get much more
than 1 hour without Media Center offering to reduce the quality to get it to
fit. I've been able to burn somewhat reliably if I don't reduce the quality,
but if I do, generally the burn fails.

You can get longer movies if you have dual-layer burner and dual-layer
media, but as far as I can tell the MCE burning engine (Sonic burning
engine, actually) doesn't support dual-layer burning.

The MCD DVD authoring facility is very rudimentary. If you want to do anything
beyond quickly archiving an episode of 'Friends' I would recommend using a
proper DVD authoring package outside the MCE interface.

Good point. I use MCE to archive some History Channel stuff and Travel
Channel stuff, but if I'm creating a DVD of my own stuff (photos, videos), I
tend to use Nero (on my XP Pro box) for the burn and any number of programs
to create the content...
