Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>help_and_support (more info?)

As I work mainly with photos and graphics, I need to use a rather
bland colour scheme. When I select `XP Style` and try to change the
colours using the Advanced button, only my desktop changes colour and
everything else remains the same. In Help and Support Centre it says

"3. In the Item list, click the element you want to change, such as
Window, Menu, or Scrollbar, and then adjust the appropriate settings,
such as color, font, or font size."

But then further down it also says :

"Changing the look of individual items is only useful if you select
Windows Classic in the Windows and buttons list on the Appearance tab.
If you select a different option, the theme determines the appearance
of your menus, fonts, icons, and other Window elements" - which seems
to contradict the earlier statement.

Is it not possible to change any other colour when selecting `XP
style`, please? Reluctantly, I have had to revert to `Windows
Classic` in order to set the colours I want.

Thanks
Kate
