I was alerted to a spyware infection by Windows and I was recommended to use
special antispyware. I was directed to the SpyAxe website. I have
subsequently paid for and downloaded a different Spyware program and a
Registry Fix program. I have run them both but still keep getting the
irritating floating message along with a flashing red circle with a white
cross in it over my internet explorer icon in the status bar. I cannot
disable or delete this message (or the sound it makes) because it keeps
coming back every few seconds, and it's driving me mad as well as making me
feel anxious that my computer is still infected. What do I need to do to
disable or delete it?

Thanks. I have 'The Spy Guard' running and 'Advanced System Organiser' as
well. My system is fully protected by McAfee Security Centre which is
receiving regular updates. I have run and updated them frequently and have
regularly restarted my computer (Dell Dimension 8400) all to no avail. I am
getting really irritated and frustrated by the message which sits on top of
every window I have open.

Excellent suggestion! It seems to have done the trick. I haven't used
System Restore before so I've learnt something. Thanks very much! I feel a
lot happier and confident now.
