The driver may be corrupted or missing [Code 39] I have tryed uninstalling
and installing it, I even tryed restoring it. This happened after I
uninstalled Nero6. The Drive opens and closes ok, but I cannot play any cd
ordvd on it. I cannot see it in My Computer

I have a Dell 4100. I upgraded from Windows ME to Windows XP Home. Then I
installed a Sony DVD/CD Rewriteable drive (DRU-830A). The computer does not
recognize it. After attemp[ting to load the Neor software, I selected eject
and both drives (old CD and new dvd drive) opened up. The computer does not
recognize them as separate drives. Not sure what the fix is. have read scores
of comments on this website with no relief yet. If I find a fix I will come
back and post it.

The "both doors opening" thing suggests a cabling
or incorrect jumper configuration on the back of the drives issue.

Try a different cable and carefully check the correct
positioning of the jumper links on the back of the drive
(MASTER/SLAVE).
