Camcorder is not recognized anymore !

I know this is an old message, but I have a literally identical problem with
a Sony DCR TRV310 camcorder: it used to be recognized on a fire wire port but
not any more. A fire wire scanner is working well from the same fire wire
adapter card. The camcorder is recognized on another XP Home PC. I purchased
a brand new cable, so it is not a cable problem.

Any suggestion would be appreciated!
