I do not know why, but the built-in driver for USB printers does not work
properly through an USB to parallel cable.
Somebody told me that such cables are unidirectionnal so there is no
possibility of status signals from the printer to the driver.
Be it true or false, I concluded that this solution is too difficult to sort
out, so I opted for a different one (parallel port PCI card).
