Hi,

I am setting up a laptop to use offline files on a users my docs folder. the
user is a roaming profile account, i am redirecting the my docs folder to a
unique share with caching enabled, as i know the profile itself won't support
offline files. instead the profile is configured to use a cached copy if it
does not find the server.

the server is w2003 and all accounts are configured via group policy.

the offline files portion of gpo has been configured to support offline
files, but whenever i try to sync the my documents folder, i get "access is
denied" on every file in the my docs folder.

this happens regardless of if the share is configured to manually of
automatically cache files.

the my docs share is set up as the following

share permissions - users group: full control
file permissions - users group : advanced read permissions for the root
folder only (this includes reading file permissions)
system : full control
creative owner : full control

this is a MS recommended way of setting up a share, so i really can't
understand why the sync of my docs keeps saying access is denied

the user does not have exclusive rights over there folders and the
administrator group is added to the permissions, but as full control for the
creative owner is in place i cant see that it effects it.

i have run a rsop on the user and computer and all gpo settings are applying.

any thoughts?

Do you have any encrypted files in this or those folders ? It may be a
starting point ..

Hi,

i found out i was being a div.

although i moved the test files across to the account, i didn't properly
transfer ownership and then change permissions for the files.

All is working now.

Thanks for your reply though

Alan

I have the same situation however as I have posted in post named "Offline
file synchronization...ACCESS DENIED" I have confirmed that all permissions
are intact with the user have Full Control on all folders and files as well
as have made sure he is the owner of all...
Just the other day I have had a 2nd client experience the same issue.
Could this been caused by an Update?
Any help would be great since at this point I am out of options.
BTW on the 2nd client I even deleted his name out of Active Directory and re
added him and yet the problem persists. I had to break down and purchase a
3rd party sync tool just to get them back on the road....
Thanks
