Need help with Upgrade. Windows won't start.

I am upgrading my Dell Dimension XPS 450, Win XP, with a new Mobo (ECS
661FX-M7) and processor (Intel P4, 2.67 G Hz)

POST is fine. Mem check is fine. Screen goes to the point showing
that "Windows failed to start" and presents the alternate boot menu
(safe mode, etc.). When any option is chosen, the system resets again
and ends up back at the same "failed to start" screen. I have
fooled around with the BIOS (reset, fail safe mode, etc.) but no
change. HD led flickers and motor whirrs, but no start.

Any ideas?

could be a couple of things one is the hard drive is bad or the boot system
is corrupt.
You could try a repair install.

Thanks for the links. Holy Cow! This is a more complicated process
compared to previous OS like 98, ME, etc!

I will go ahead and restore my system to the old configuration and
follow the instructions in your links.
